Inception opening analysis

At first we see the company logos who aided the people making this film. In the background we can hear a big orchestral sound. The sound is a mixture of big brass instruments which could possibly represent something important but then it cuts out.

We then see a shot of the sea in slow motion, the waves crashing slowly against each other again giving the image of power. As soon as the orchestral music cuts out we only hear that big crashing of waves.

The scene then cuts to a man washed up in the sea, the sound of waves have died down now but you can still hear it in the background but the sound of trickling water can be heard. Upon seeing this man washed up on the beach we begin to have an enigma being created for us. Who is this man? Why is he here? What happened to him?

The scene then goes to the image of two little children both male and female. Again an enigma is created; who are these children? Why are they all alone? We hear their laughs echo as if we are in some sort of dream. We hear the music become really slow and sad and we begin to realise, as the man looks up, that they are related to him; they must be his children.

We then come to a scene with the over the shoulder shot; the person whose shoulder we are looking over, is pointing a gun at the man who is washed up on the beach.
