Making the character
Accent - A deep strong northern accent will suggest the origin of the person who is the main character. This will make people recognise the person as important because of the big accent used a lot.
Proxemics - Depending on the situation in the movie the character would perhaps be quite close to many people as they are the main character meaning they would often speak to many people up close. The camera can also be far away from the person, or distance two people so we can see the main character clearly.
Camera work/Visual heirachy - The main character would be a powerful one in the movie meaning there will be quite a lot of low angled shots giving off the visulal heirachy of power. If something happens to the main character or they are facing a difficult task then there would be a high angled shot making the character seem less powerful and less important. There will be lots of close up shots because the main character will need a lot of attention in the film. When the main character is moving it would usually be important so there would be a camera pan in the direction that they are walking.
Above is an example of a high angle shot
Miae en scene - The main character would be dressed in formal clothes that represent what they are doing because that is based on the movie which is very important for the mise en scene. The main character would be best in a suit as the thriller is very action based and formal. In a thriller there would often be a lot of blood meaning that make-up of blood would need to be done to the main character a lot. Cuts and bruises would have to be used in make-up too. The lighting would be focused on what the main character is doing too. The hair colour would be a dark brown or black because thrillers are dark making the audience remember the character for their looks so when the main character turns up in a scene the audience can instantly identify them as the main character. The main character will be carrying a pistol for protection in which he uses in the opening scene. In terms of performance the main character will be light on his feet meaning he will be doing a lot of running, climbing and fighting.

Sound/vocabulary/Acoustics - Sound will be very loud if something important is going on such as a death or something that relates to the main character. This can be noises that make people on edge like distorted high pitched sounds to make people uncomfortable but know what's going on. The main character s diologue will be very distinctive and will make people recognise them through their voice. The main characters voice can always be heard very well over the rest so they would be placed perhaps in a room that will make their voice carry out and bounce for everyone to hear. The sound would be diegetic
Music that helps identify the character- The music will be very loud if something important is going on otherwise a section of sound that occurs every time the main character comes in will help the audience identify that person as the main character. This will also help people identify a particular scene that a character is in. Particular music that defines the main character will make the audience recognise them e.g. if sad music comes on and something has happened and there is a shot of a character we will know that its in relation to the main character again making us identify that person as the main character.
